German Language Courses (ÖIF, AMS)

One of the key aspects of integration in Austria is learning the German language. Displaced persons from Ukraine who have temporary protection status have the opportunity to attend German language courses free of charge, provided by the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) and through the Public Employment Service (AMS).

Courses Offered by the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF)

The Austrian Integration Fund (Österreichischer Integrationsfonds, ÖIF) organizes language courses for persons residing in Austria under the temporary protection programme.

Course Programme:

  • Courses at levels A1, A2, and B1, covering basic and intermediate language skills.
  • Integration courses that include elements of Austrian culture and society.
  • Preparation courses for language examinations required to confirm the language level needed for employment or studies.

Displaced persons from Ukraine aged 15 and over may attend these courses free of charge. The courses are conducted in certified language schools and integration centres throughout Austria.

  • Professionally oriented language courses that include specialized terminology for various sectors (e.g., healthcare, construction, IT, etc.).
